High Power Lineman
In my humble opinion I think there are similarities between riding and flying or soaring. Listen to what this lineman says in response to people asking him if what he does is safe. Very similar as with riding. And of course he too has the right gear and training for what he does.
I think riding is safer though. What do you think?

Great Video. I have seen things about those guys before, but never this clip. They do seem to be tempting fate buy mixing flying machines and high tension power lines not to mention crawling around on the lines. I suspect that they have a lower percentage accidents than motorcycles in general. I would imagine not just anybody can be a flying lineman, but the same can't always be said for who puts a leg over a motorcycle. GAW
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw this I thought, this is cool but also dangerous. Hey wait, it's kind of like riding. You'd have to really like doing it to keep the fear-factor down. I hope they get paid a lot.

ReplyDeleteThat was an amazing video. I have never seen anything like that before nor did I even know that kind of job existed. I have heard of power linemen working from bucket trucks...but I never knew power linemen worked from helicopters, too.
